Osocio di dedikasikan bagi periklanan nirlaba dan kampanye sosial. Inilah tempat dimana pemasaran dan aktivis berpadu. Sebelumnya dikenal sebagai Houtlust Blog, Osocio adalah pusat simpul online bagi pengiklan, agensi periklanan, kalangan akar rumput, para aktivis sosial, masyarakat madani, pewirausaha sosial dan siapa saja yang berjuang untuk kebaikan dari seluruh dunia. 

Walau ada ratusan blog periklanan di dunia maya, Houtlust tampil dengan memfokuskan secara eksklusif pada periklanan sosial. Tidak seperti pemasaran komersial, yang hanya berusaha untuk mempengaruhi keputusan pembelian, iklan-iklan nirlaba berusaha untuk menghubungkan kita dengan mahluk hidup lainnya. Periklanan sosial, mempunyai kekuatan luar biasa yang dapat membuat kita berhenti, berpikir dan bertindak untuk membantu orang, atau sekelompok orang, yang bahkan tak kita kenal, bisa jadi berasal dari budaya asing, dan tinggal ratusan mil jauhnya. Dan untuk alasan itulah kami menampilkan iklan-iklan semacam ini, mempelajarinya, dan mendiskusikannya secara mendalam. Kami harap, Anda juga demikian.

Dibuat oleh Marc van Grup pada bulan Oktober 2005, Houtlust awalnya merupakan koleksi pribadi iklan-iklan nirlaba. Pada mulanya situs ini ditulis dalam bahasa Belanda, dan tak ada pemikiran lebih jauh ditujukan bagi pemirsa yang lebih luas. Tapi, permintaan untuk versi Bahasa Inggris semakin banyak. Blog lingkup kecil ini semakin besar dan membesar. Dan hal itu tak berlangsung lama, hingga Houtlust mulai dikenal sebagai referensi resmi di dunia periklanan bagi periklanan nirlaba dan orang yang berjiwa sosial di mana saja.

Pada musim semi 2007 sejumlah diskusi dimulai tentang bagaimana membawa Houtlust pada tingkat yang lebih tinggi. Agensi Interaktif Onstuimig dan Agensi Markey’s Branding menawarkan layanan mereka secara sukarela untuk mencitrakan ulang dan meluncurkan kembali situs yang baru. Hasil dari kerjasama ini adalah apa yang Anda lihat kini: Osocio

Osocio lebih dari sekedar blog. Ini adalah sumber yang lengkap untuk semua hal dalam dunia penyampaian pesan sosial dan nirlaba. Ini adalah sebuah platform bagi isu-isu sosial lokal dan global, baik kecil maupun besar. Ini adalah komunitas bagi pemikir sosial dan sarana pemasaran bagi perbuatan baik. 

Jika Houtlust hanya di tangani oleh satu orang, yaitu Marc van Grup, Osocio mempunyai sejumlah kontributor yang merupakan spesialis di bidang tententu dalam beragam sektor nirlaba. Kami bangga untuk menyambut para pakar berikut dalam tim Osocio (lihat dibawah)

Tentu, kami punya ide-ide sendiri tentang bagaimana membuat dunia menjadi tempat yang lebih baik. Namun, Osocio berjanji untuk tak memasukkan agenda politik apapun di dalamnya. Kampanye-kampanye yang kami tampilkan, tak langsung menunjukkan keberpihakan pribadi atas isu-isu tertentu. Fokus kami hanya tertuju pada komunikasi pesan-pesan sosial. 

Jika Anda merasa dapat berkolaborasi dalam berbagai bentuk atau cara, silahkan hubungi kami. Kami selalu tertarik dalam kampanye sosial yang baru. Jadi silahkan kirim kami pemasaran sosial yang sedang Anda kerjakan, atau hasil kerja dari agensi Anda bersama berita, pranala (links) atau petunjuk lainnya.

Walaupun Anda dapat membaca teks ini dalam berbagai bahasa, semua materi di dalam Osocio ditulis dalam bahasa Inggris.

Liz Losh
Elizabeth Losh is currently the Writing Director of the Humanities Core Course at U.C. Irvine and teaches about digital rhetoric. She studies public communication, persuasive videogames, social marketing, public diplomacy, risk communication, and institutional branding.
