Privacy statementWe do not rent or sell your personal information. By personal information, we mean your name, email address, phone number, mailing address or any other personally identifiable information. We do not collect such data without your initiation, such as when you send an email to Osocio, ask the comment system to remember you or sign up for the Osocio membership.
We do place cookies on your computer. Our cookies come from our publishing system, Expression Engine, our traffic counter, Google analytics and Statcounter, and our adserver, phpAdsNew. The cookies coming from Expression Engine are there simply to remember your name or email address (so you don't have to enter it the next time) if you post a comment to a story and only when you ask the comment system to remember your information. They appear on your cookie list as "www.osocio.org" followed by "mt" and then a few random letters. The cookies from our traffic counter simply let us know how many (not who) people visit the site so we have an idea of site growth, ability to set ad costs and manage the computer the website is served from. They appear as "osocio.org" followed by "_ut" and two other random letters. The cookies that come from our adserver manage how ads are shown on the site. For the user, this is a very good thing because advertisers want their ads seen by an individual a certain amount of times. But not too many times. If the cookie is deleted, there is no way of knowing how many times the ad has been seen, therefore, it will be shown everytime a person looks at the page. The net: with cookies, you see less ads; without, you see ads all the time. These cookies appear as "www.osocio.org" followed by "phpAds_" and then various letters and numbers.

Some ads appearing on this Web site are delivered to users by Google, among other services. Information about users' visit to this site, such as number of times they have viewed an ad (but not username, date of birth, or any other personal information), is used to serve ads to users on this site. Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. We used the above mentioned Urchin to manage these log files. These files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We may use a tracking utility that uses log files to analyze user movement.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, Osocio may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on Osocio.
In the event Osocio goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of a portion of its assets, users' personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred.
