Albuquerque lays down 50,000 Bones

One Million Bones is a project aimed to install 1,000,000 bones on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in 2013. It is a fundraising art installation designed to recognize the millions of victims and survivors who have been killed or displaced by ongoing genocides.
In the meantime, they want to share their vision with the world starting with a project in Albuquerque USA. On August 27, 2011, One Million Bones is hosting a 50,000 bone performance/installation preview in their hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, near Route 66.
One Million Bones is a visible petition against genocide. The bone installation represents a mass grave, the seemingly never ending line of volunteers placing the bones represents the streams of survivors often displaced as a result of genocide. The totality makes the devastation of genocide visible.
They are installing a preview exhibition and filming it, and they need your help to do it. You can help here at Kickstarter.

Naomi Natale is the founding artist behind One Million Bones. Both an installation artist and photographer, Naomi was the founder and director of The Cradle Project, a large scale installation calling attention and raising funds for the 48 million children orphaned in sub-Saharan Africa.
