Jon Hamm wants YOU to stop rape culture

Jon Hamm wants YOU to stop rape culture.

He may play a real bastard on Mad Men, but by all accounts Jon Hamm is a great guy in real life. So I’m not surprised he is the spokesperson for this campaign for the White House that obliquely addresses the problem of rape culture:

There is another version of the PSA, in which Mr. Hamm is joined by some friends — Connie Britton, Kerry Washington, Joel McHale, Randy Jackson and Questlove:

Like far too many celebrity PSAs, it relies entirely on the force of the message and simple star power to reach people, rather than putting any creativity into the delivery. Nonetheless, those two factors alone will undoubtedly get attention and drive people to the campaign site.

Once there, visitors are encouraged to sign this pledge:

To RECOGNIZE that non-consensual sex is sexual assault.
To IDENTIFY situations in which sexual assault may occur.
To INTERVENE in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.
To CREATE an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.

It’s a start, at least.
