Courage in action - Mut zu Taten

Posted by Tatjana Vukic | 30-08-2011 22:02 | Category: Health, Homelessness, Human rights, Poverty, Third world, War & conflicts

"No big said eyes, no laughing or crying children. No drawn faces of hunger...” I read it in the german magazine “Werben & Verkaufen”.
There is a lot of courage to advertise in this way. But only because it is different, it catches my eye. I would almost call it Art. And advertising .
The one does not exclude the other.

To raise money, Misereor showed in january this year in billboard campaign not a pity but zest. The impressive and vivid illustrations demonstrated what makes Misereor in countries like Haiti, Sudan or South America. Namely, to promote education and to help build a completely destroyed country. And to support the brave on the ground who take their fate into their own hands. Misereor commends the people as a doer and shows them not only as victims.

“Courage in action” - “Mut zu Taten” is the motto for the organization, which refers not only to their own contribution but also includes the call for donations.

As a nice continuation of a great campaign, Hamburg-based agency Kolle Rebbe has created the impressive illustrations for a Spot that is running since last week on TV, in cinema and on the Internet.

Courage to stay. Even when the headlines disappear.
Courage to fight. Even if the opponent is too powerful.
Courage is to fight against the weapons with words.
Courage to go there, where others flee.
Courage is to prove the crimes that have allegedly never happened.
We support the brave on site.
We Help people to help themselves.

Making A Do-Ference at The Design Ethos Conference 2012

I recently had the privilege of being invited to speak and participate in the 2012 Design Ethos Conference/Do-ference at Savannah College of Art and Design. The creator of the conference, Scott Boylston, is a longtime friend in the relatively small socially conscious design community and I was delighted that…
