Farming in sneakers

This feel-good video is a portrait of three young farmers in Tanzania. It comes from SNV, a non-profit, international development organisation, established in the Netherlands. ‘Opportunities for Youth Employment’ is one of their programmes which focuses on the huge problem of youth unemployment in developing countries.

Worldwide, 74 million youth are unemployed, many in rural areas. Here, farming is seen as tough work for no pay. But the three young farmers in this video see it differently. They see it as an opportunity. And they talk and dance about it.

Creative agency BrandOutLoud shot this video and made an optimistic story about ambitions and achievements. Like what they did here and here.

As we listened to stories from the programme staff and the youth, we felt their energy and spirit. Their excitement was contagious. We immediately knew that same energy needed to be in the video. We had to make sure everyone who watched it would have the same feeling of excitement.
