Do you know what you eat? The DNA of genetically modified plants may contain the genes of insects, animals or even viruses. These products may potentially cause harm to your health. Look for GMD free sign on the package.

¡Great!

Maybe it would have been more terrifying if it were plants with actual insects as sheets or flowers… ;) Those on the images look too nice…

Greenpeace campaigns are really good.

I don’t like the aim of this campaign. GM technology isn’t that bad as it is always said. The only problem with GM technology is that there is the danger of transfering the genes of the manipulated plants to unmanipulated plants.
People always grumble about GM technology but they don’t know about the advantages. E.g you can manipulate rice, so that it contains vaccines. That’s a very easy and cheap method to distribute vaccines to the Third World.

Did you know that nowadays insulin is produced by bioengineered bacteriums? Previously you had to take the insulin of pigs…

So don’t always grumble about genetic engineering, and don’t believe to everythin Greenpeace tells you.

Anyway the campaign ist good…

It’s not that it’s “bad”, Nico. It’s about unknown dangers that won’t sure appear until it’s already too late…
Natural balance is too complex for us to “re-do” it, nowadays it’s impossible to know how these genetic modified plants will affect the whole system. But do they really care? Not really, I think: they take the benefits, and don’t look at consequences. We will all .pay for them.

Furthermore, it’s stupid trying to re-do a perfect natural system. There are always better ways of doing the same, of using nature for human purposes, that don’t require genetic manipulation; but well, maybe they aren’t soo cool and won’t give soo much money to those who have the secret and the… well… let’s say the “control”. That’s the real point.

hi nico, :D

i understand what you mean, but there are some things about GMO products that’s a bit scary. GM is tampering the natural processes and I think it will have a negative effect to the ecosystem, making it unbalanced in the process. One of the main reasons why companies/governments do GMOs is for them to get bigger profits, make everything faster, more accessible so more people can “consume” them. Some might have good intentions but messing with nature’s system will always be catastrophic.

Cheers!

The irritating this is crops have been modified to increase yields dramatically, in 3rd world countries especially this can and in fact has had the power to save millions of peoples of lives. Although the pictures are entertaining greenpeace do have a habit of wrongly pushing against what can actually have a very positive effect on humanity if used correctly.

Not to mention modified crops have been about for generations no with absolutely no ill effect linked to their consumption, I personally would be more worried about the use of drugs such as antibiotics that can in the long run increase pathogens resillience to treatments.
