Disregarding America’s strong tradition of defending human rights, President Bush made bad policy bad law on October 17th when he signed the “Military Commissions Act of 2006.” The new law allows the administration to detain people without charge or without trial, and to withhold legal recourse for anyone labeled an enemy combatant.
