This ad was published today in the New York Times. With this ad Amnesty International is calling for the closure of Guantanamo.
Disregarding America’s strong tradition of defending human rights, President Bush made bad policy bad law on October 17th when he signed the “Military Commissions Act of 2006.” The new law allows the administration to detain people without charge or without trial, and to withhold legal recourse for anyone labeled an enemy combatant.
