This ad for Evolve, a gun safety NGO in the United States, is pretty hilarious:

Evolve position themselves as a third option in the US gun debate, and their philosophy may seem a little alien to non-Americans:

Guns are a part of America, from the shot heard round the world to present days. How do we as a country begin a productive conversation that protects gun rights, but gives equal consideration to the moral responsibilities that come with those rights?

The main message of the ad, that things not for children should be made inaccessible to children, is well-conveyed. The humour, however, normalizes citizen gun ownership. While a child finding your sex toys may be embarrassing, that’s all it is. If you have a gun at home, it could be deadly.

This ad will inevitably go viral. It is clever and dumb in equal measures, with the key ingredients of sex and awkwardness. It was done pro-bono by McCann Erickson.
