I had never heard of the term refugee gardeners. I think the same goes for you.
It’s something what the International Rescue Committee has devised. They started recently with a new web serie New Roots in the Bronx.
The series follows Burmese refugee Ah Lun, IRC client Angele from Cameroon, and other urban farmers as they put down new roots at two IRC-run community gardens in the Bronx and adjust to life in the United States. Each year, the IRC resettles thousands of refugees from around the world in 22 cities across the USA. Their New Roots program helps refugees become self sufficient and contribute to their new home through community gardening and small-business farming.
A new episode of the web series will be released each week, through mid-October.
