No one wants to talk about bowel cancer

Posted by Marc | 18-12-2009 11:09 | Category: Health

Every two hours someone dies of bowel cancer in Australia. It is our second deadliest cancer and most people don’t experience symptoms prior to a diagnosis.
The good news is that unlike many other cancers, bowel cancer is preventable.

The Gut Foundation and Australian business man John Singleton have launched a national bowel cancer awareness campaign aimed at reducing Australia’s national bowel cancer death toll. In this PSA bowel cancer is compared with a terrorist attack. Risky businness especially when a 9/11 atmosphere is created.
The Gut Foundation made a strong point, no one wants to talk about bowel cancer. A disease don’t fit in our daily madness. But does the images lead away from the message?

Comments about No one wants to talk about bowel cancer

Using something like 9/11 or the Madrid or London bombings seems like an extremely cheap and lazy way to try to shock the audience. Instead it opens up old wounds for some and annoys and bores everyone else. It’s time for advertisers to get back to being creative. That is, if they remember what those days were like…
