NSW Police Department

DDB Sydney and the NSW Police Department have released a print campaign to raise awareness of the fact that the number of teenagers dying as a result of listening to ipods while crossing the road is beginning to reach “epidemic proportions”. Seems like an interesting ad, the execution is great, but I think it could use a bit of variation in my opinion (The road location and the Ipod models, etc).

I would say this would be a very nice ambient idea!

The iPhone fetish people of iPhone Savior are very angry about these ads. They got a point point: where are the stats. On the other hand they don’t have stats either.
We all know that the use of cellphones and musicplayers are very dangerous in traffic. That is my experience every day on the the road.

Hey marc, yea they are pretty mad about these ads by DDB. I think it’s just being defensive of them though. Nowhere in the ad it is stated that they should stop using their Ipods! or Ipods kill! Yes Ipods are used in the print ads, but it is because of the reason that most people in Australia (and even here in the Philippines) own one. And I dont think they wouldn’t need stats to prove this fact. I just find it weird that the fetish peeps would reply rabidly to the campaign… I have seen a few ads before on Road Safety using cellphones (which used aNokia Phones) but never heard of “fanboys” defending it.

That’s it I guess… people should just be objective.
