Obituaries, your chance at getting inside her.

Re-born to be Alive is an organ donor foundation in Belgium. With this newspaper ad they (and their ad agency Duval Guillaume) won the “Standaard Solidarity Prize”.

One organ donor can save 8 lives

Another campaign and a bit more info after the jump.

The “Standaard Solidarity Prize” is a prize issued by one of Belgium’s leading newspapers.
Ad agencies are asked to send in a campaign for one of their non-profit clients. A selection of those ads gets a full page print and the winning campaign earns it’s advertiser four more full pages later on.
I would have loved writing more about the competition and the campaigns but the issuing newspaper’s PR has not responed to any of my questions regarding.
Too bad as both the idea of the competition and some of the entries are really good.
A dutch only page (with tiny images) on this year’s entries can be found here.

Enough ranting. Below is another ad for Re-born to be Alive.
Here, they’re targeting men, not only by the ad’s contents but also by running the ad in P-magazine, Belgium’s leading male magazine.

Becoming a donor is probably your only chance to get inside her.

Both ads play their respective medium really well. This probably is one of the reasons the first one (the obituaries) won the competition.
Comparing both makes the second one feel a bit cheap and although it has it’s merits, I can’t help but prefer the first one.

What do you think?

Comments about Obituaries, your chance at getting inside her.

I am generally against the blatant and unecessary use of sex in advertising, especially when it has NOTHING to do with the product, but I a strong proponent of organ donation (http://www.culture-buzz.com/blog/Donate-Life-in-China-1742.html), so I’ll let this one slide. But I do agree with you that the ad looks completely cheap next to the obituary one. I bet most people don’t realize that they could save 8 people’s lives, not just one, so that really gets an important and impacting message across. I hope the organization will get back to you soon, so that you can write that article!
