Quebec celebrities go nude for poverty
Posted by Tom Megginson | 15-09-2011 19:08 | Category: PovertyCeline, a Quebec producer I have worked with in the past, shared this interesting campaign for the Quebec United Way. It features Quebec celebrities, including popular ‘80s pop star (and now media personality) Mitsou, baring all to raise awareness of poverty.
With the themeline “Below,we are all alike”, the campaign is using the public’s interest in celebrity nudes to get attention and raise funds for the United Way.
Mitsou said of the experience, “We agreed to put ourselves bare to the fight against poverty in the hope that people realize that basically we are all the same, or human beings as beautiful as vulnerable.”
A campaign like this could easily feel self-important and crass but at first blush the photos seem earnest and tasteful.
