This French anti-domestic-violence video is not for the easily upset. It shows graphic scenes of violence and sexual assault. (Why are the French so fixated on groin grabs?)
Copyranter posted this with the translation, “Domestic violence: to remain silent is to participate” and added, “As with all these types of shock videos, I wonder if they do any good at all.”
I tend to agree. But at least it changes the conversation from damning abusers and pleading with victims to get help, to communicate a sense of community responsibility. I think this is a good step forward, and we’re trying something similar (but much tamer) with our Elder Abuse spot.
