Niebieska Linia: Stop hiding the truth

“Nie mów nikomu, co się dzieje w domu” is the original copy of these three Polish ads from Niebieska Linia. Roughly translated it means “Home Sweet Home” “don’t tell anyone, what happens at home” (see comments).
The three ads are very subtile, maybe too subtile, showing ordinary scenes until looking closer. Domestic violence in three shapes: physical, alcoholical and sexual.
The ads are published in magazines and outdoor.

Niebieska Linia (The Blue Line) is a social aid organisation working with the victims of domestic violence affiliated with the Institute of the Psychology of Health of the Polish Society of Psychologists.

The ad looks friendly. Is that the idea, to have a friendly pic and a disturbing line below?

I corrected it. Thanks.

Yes I am sure. I’m Polish.  :) But I wonder why it says that instead of “don’t be silent about, what happens at home”? Maybe there’s some sarcasm in it that I’m not aware of (I was born in Poland, but grew up in America so I mostly just know Polish from speaking it w/ my parents… not so much the nuances of the language.)

Also, I didn’t get until just now what the meaning of this was.  :) I didn’t notice that the perimeter of the handkerchief is where the bad stuff is happening. So it looks like a pretty scene in the middle but, but if you look at the stuff *around it* there’s knives and fists and broken bottles…

Oh I found an example of the original embroidery these ads were based on. I think they were used to decorate kitchens before. This one says “if the wife is cheerful when she’s cooking, dinner will taste good for the husband”:

Disturbing for other reasons.  :)

Bart, “don’t tell anyone what happens at home” sounds much better in Polish than “don’t be silent about, what happens at home”. Yes, it’s sarcasm but also an imitation of nursery rhymes, that were typical for that kind of crafts. Also, in this sarcastic form it emphasize the real face of the problem - here, in Poland we’ve got a strong stereotype of loving, ideal, catholic family and spoiling this stereotype is usually a big problem for domestic violence victims.
