Teaser: Tom Tom Club founders record Sandy Hook fundraising single with young survivors and friends

I’m already a huge fan of Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. The married musical partners are founding members of Talking Heads, and continue to make great music with their onetime “side project” Tom Tom Club. Chris is also the nicest rock star on Facebook.

Now, Tina and Chris are collaborating with CBGB co-owner Tim Hayes and children of Newtown, Connecticut, (location of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings) to record a charity single for local charities. They are the classmates, teammates, friends and neighbours of children killed.

The song is a cover of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” . It will be premiered live on Good Morning America this coming Tuesday. The song will be available on iTunes and Amazon that same day.

We’ll follow up then.
