The censorship never gives up

Two ads from Associação Brasileira de imprensa, the Brazilian press organisation.
Copy: “A censura nunca desiste. Ela sempre volta disfarçada. 3 de Maio Dia Mundial da Liberdade de Imprensa.”
“The censorship never gives up. It always return disguised. 3th of May, world day for the freedom of press.”

I have seen more censorship ads from Brazil in the past. What going on? Is censorship a big problem in Brazil?

Comments about The censorship never gives up

Lately here in Brazil we’ve been having some problems concerning alcoholic beverages advertising. The government wants to put some limitations to it (the ads could only be seen on TV between 9pm and 6am) and it would be disastrous to some advertising agencies and TV channels, because the beer manufacturers spend up to 500 billion in advertising every year.

And of course it’s a very appealing subject because it refers to the years of dictatorship in the 60s/70s…

Making A Do-Ference at The Design Ethos Conference 2012

I recently had the privilege of being invited to speak and participate in the 2012 Design Ethos Conference/Do-ference at Savannah College of Art and Design. The creator of the conference, Scott Boylston, is a longtime friend in the relatively small socially conscious design community and I was delighted that…
