There really is no relief from the commercialization of breast cancer. The ad, above, is for a “pink ribbon” merchandise wholesaler.

That’s right, not only are they not a charity. They don’t even give to charity. Fundraising For A Cause, Inc., is a merchandiser of promotional items with “one goal of helping people raise money for different causes.” And making a profit. Off of people who are volunteering their time to raise money and awareness.
I don’t want to be too harsh about their motives, but it seems a little scammy to me:
After my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and I signed up to do the Susan G Komen 3 day walk, I saw how many people struggled to raise the $2,300 needed to walk. Here were all these wonderful people willing to walk 60 miles but would drop out because they couldn’t raise their money.
I thought if we could help just 10 people in the 12 cities the Susan G Komen does their walk to raise their money that would be over $300,000 for breast cancer research.
So I left corporate America and started Fundraising For A Cause with a goal of developing fundraising merchandise at wholesale prices so people can raise money for various causes. We launched with breast cancer merchandise and have since added other cause merchandise at the request of so many organizations. Everyone struggles to raise money and when you see how easy it is to sell our merchandise, you will be amazed at the money you can raise.
One of the best quotes I ever read is,” I kept waiting for someone to make a difference and then I realized I was that someone”.
Be that someone and make a difference! One person can truly make a difference!
And sell their crap for them. Whatever ribbon you wear. Sigh.
