TV actress gets naked, painted, de-nippled for PETA climate change ad

Margaret Denise Quigley (“Maggie Q”) is an American model and actress, currently known for her role in the title role of the TV series Nikita. A devoted vegan and animal rights activist, she has disrobed for PETA before, once covering her private parts in lettuce leaves and another time with chili peppers.

This time, it’s body paint to represent the planet Earth. The message is about the relationship between meat consumption and climate change.

From the PETA news release:

The meat industry is a leading cause of the greenhouse-gas emissions that contribute to climate change. According to the United Nations, a global shift toward a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change, and researchers at the University of Chicago concluded that switching from a standard American diet to a vegan diet is more effective than switching from a standard American car to a hybrid.

The image is featured on a billboard on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip at La Cienega. It’s pretty standard PETA strategy, but considering how much the organization (and the celebrities who love it) enjoy getting attention through nudity, it’s odd that they chose to remove Ms. Quigley’s nipples. Sure, American media regulators are pretty terrified by women’s areola. But the awkward “Barbie boobs” must certainly qualify as a Photoshop Disaster.
