For 15 years, WITNESS has harnessed the power of video to advance human rights. In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10th, they have put together this short video with different WITNESS staff talking about images that opened their eyes to human rights abuses around the world.
And for this project WITNESS ask you: What video or image opened your eyes to human rights?
I don’t have a particular image or video in mind but I was shocked when I first heard about the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo (Asociación Madres de Plaza de Mayo) during the 1978 FIFA World Cup (football) held in Argentina.
