Underwater: How Long Would You Wait?

Psychosis – a condition which affects the mind’s ability to decide what’s real and what’s not – is a bit like being underwater. That was the basis for a media experiment in 2010 for the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Arts innovation lab Effervescent designed and lead a two week residential in 2010 for young adults who had experienced a psychotic episode. The group was challenged to develop a film campaign to raise awareness of psychosis, increase and accelerate referrals to the NHS Early Intervention Team.

The final film campaign was launched virally August 2010. The video above is the 2014 remake. Parts from this video are also used in a new Dutch campaign for the Fonds Psychische Gezondheid. Read about it here.
