Winning the elections with just hands

Angela Merkel In guten Handen

This is the best election campaign ad for me this year. It’s huge and it can be seen in Berlin at this time. 2.378 square meters with just the hands of CDU candidate and German President chancellor Angela Merkel.
These hands tells it all. Confident, calm, authoritative, with a link to the Pope. Because she is world’s most powerful woman and member of the Christian Democratic Party.

I’m not talking about my political leanings. Which are in fact not the same as Angela’s.
I’m talking about creativity. It’s like what Shepard Fairey did for Obama. Angela will win the elections with these hands.

The copy is a bit redundant. “Germany future in good hands (Deutschland Zukunft in guten Handen).”

Merkel is not the German president, she is the chancellor, i.e. head of government. The German president and head of state is called Joachim Gauck.

Well, in fact this represents the CDU campaign quite well - not talking about politics but just showing their popular chancelor. The web reacted accordingly - with a tumblr: http://merkelraute.tumblr.com/

Does social media have the power to change the world? The answer is yes. But there are still many obstacles, like censorship and literacy. Three-fifths of the world’s population is not connected. Does Media Matter for International Development?

‘Does Media Matter for International Development?’ is a rhetorical question.
