1972:

This poster hung in the teacher’s lounge in my elementary school, almost 40 years ago. All I can remember about that room is that it was always full of smoke.

Is smoking a good look? Tinder says no

Here’s an interesting social experiment by ASH (it’s an acronym for “Action on Smoking & Health”), an American NGO headquartered in Washington DC. Using the superficial nature of the “hookup” app Tinder, they created identical profiles of attractive people, with one difference: one version showed them smoking a cigarette, the other did not.

Smoking during pregnancy is a really bad idea. It has been associated with low birth weight, oral facial abnormalities and congenital heart disease, and behaviour problems for the child.

You know what else is a really bad idea? This ad by the Cancer Society of Finland:
