14 year old Zalissa sees another future

14 year old Zalissa sees another future

In Burkina Faso, one out of two girls under 18 years old must marry. But not Zalissa, quite deliberately she took another decision. She wants to continue her study first and later she like to build a health center in her village.

The video above is her portrait. But it is not just the story of Zalissa but also of her father. About the struggle of both and the prevailing traditions in their country. Filmed and directed in the recognizable positive style of BrandOutLoud from the Netherlands. They are able making communication campaigns in the developing world without stereotyping, just what the did for One Family People.

This video was commissioned by Stichting Kinderpostzegels for their programme “Suddenly no child anymore”, a cooperation between ICDI and The Hunger Project Netherlands. Meanwhile the portrait from Zalissa is picked up by the network Girls Not Brides for their campaign against child marriages launched this week.
