Lats Friday 18 November it was European Antibiotic Awareness Day and the video above was part of the campaign information to spread the word about the day.
Antibiotics are a well-known medication. They are used to prevent and treat bacterial infections. Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria change in response to the use of these medicines. According to experts this resistance is taking alarming proportions.
The campaign this year was partly focused on the question of how this resistance spread. Humans and animals do not become resistant to antibiotic treatments, but bacteria carried by humans and animals can. This occurs not only in hospitals as you would expect.
