Canadian archaeologist Joanne Hammond is disappointed with the Province of British Columbia. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure promised to update provincial point-of-interest signs, but in the end the new signs continued to favour European colonial history while ignoring millennia of Indigenous heritage, and whitewashing the environmental and social destruction of colonialism.
So, since last fall, she’s been “fixing” the signs in Photoshop to make them more historically and sociologically accurate:
