Christmas, the feast of force-feeding

Christmas, the feast of force-feeding

The Belgian GAIA made a lot of campaigns about the horrors of foie gras production. This year they choose gruesome images with a sugar sweet thus cynical voiceover. It is the story about food related to christmas. The time of year that we enjoy eating. And far too many. And that is exactly what is wrong with the production of foie gras.

This campaign of GAIA is specifically for people who occasionally eat foie gras, and then mostly when it is offered to them. It is this ignorant group that is susceptible to reason. Foie gras is a luxury food product made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened. And in countries like Belgium and France that is done in a horribly animal unfriendly manner.

The christmas campaign is also a reminder that that there is an animal-friendly alternative to foie gras: Faux Gras. Is is a 100% vegetable and animal-friendly alternative as brand product from the Belgium animal rights organisation.
