Design against Fur: Fashion Victims

Design against Fur: Fashion Victims

As I mentioned in the news item today, the Design against Fur (DAF) contest 2008 is now open for submissions. Designers and design students from the Netherlands can find all information here.
In the weeks to come you’ll see the “new look” for the DAF contest on their dedicated web site: You’ll still be able to access the contest at

This year they are asking you to convey the message that the wearing of fur is cruel and unnecessary (Note: you will not be required to use specific words in your poster for 2008 like in the previous years). DAF want you to show them how to make fur unfashionable. And, new for this year they are having an International Flash Animation contest with the same theme as the poster contest.

At Osocio we didn’t write about the 2007 competition because of the migration from Houtlust to our new site. Now it is a good moment to watch the highlights from last year. The nice thing about such a competition are the remarkable regional differences. In this post you see some winners and my personal favourites. All the artwork can be seen at the Design against Fur website.
Above the winner of the Todd Oldham Award in the USA region: Maren Guse. At the bottom of the post the three animation winners from the UK and Ireland region.
