6.3 million views in 4 days on Facebook is the result of this striking and unusual video from France. It is the message from FLAC (Federation of Leagues Against Corridas), the organisation fighting the cruelty of bullfighting. The chosen moment for this campaign is not by chance. It is the time of the French Presidential election, and the associations aim to get the attention of the candidates. As most politicians have avoided taking a position on the matter, a petition has been launched with the ultimate goal of making bullfighting illegal in France.
Despite the fact that animal cruelty is illegal in France and that a recent poll has shown that 7 out of 10 French people want a ban on bullfighting, French law still makes an exception for public killing of bulls when they are part of a longstanding local tradition.
The agency behind the campaign BETC Paris made a clever change of the subject. They chose a dinosaur as a victim. To ask the question: “Do you think this practice belongs to another age?”
