With public institutions increasingly under financial pressure, creativity is taking the place of media spending when it comes to marketing.
The Florida Aquarium in Tampa has created individual and viral interest by featuring “mermaids” in their exhibits. Three young women, who are employed as divers at the aquarium, gleefully suit up in fishtail costumes and pose underwater for visitors.
It’s charming. Although at 4:36, it’s a little long for the attention deficit of the internet. Nonetheless, a clever idea.
