It Gets Better

Following the tragic suicides of gay youth who felt ashamed of being outed by “friends” and peers, sex columnist Dan Savage started the “It Gets Better” project (inspired by the similar Trevor Project) , in which gay adults share their experiences in an effort to let the younger generation know that there is a better future waiting for them.

These are their stories:

A great use of social media to reassure young people that, however bad things seem, everyone eventually finds their way in life. Personally, I have learned this lesson on Facebook, where I see gay friends from 20 years ago living their lives joyfully and without compromise.

Someday, people will stop being idiots about sexual orientation. But until that day, there is hope. Pass it on.
