Amnesty International (AI) provokes with an advertising campaign against asylum hardliners in Switzerland. The reason for the campaign against the politicians are the recent tightening of the asylum laws.
In videos, posters, and cards are Swiss politicians who are known for their hard line on asylum policy, set in satirical scene as foreign asylum seekers themselves.
A rough English translation:
Ueli Maurer: “Blocher, stop looking so sad.”
Christoph Blocher: “I am so hungry, .. but why it had to be our Zottel?!”
(The antlers of the innocent political campaign-mascot, Aries Zottel, are seen sticking out of the cooking pot.)
Voiceover: “In the next lifetime, after rebirth as Somali, some people would be glad they pled for the rights of refugees.”
Amnesty International called this latest campaign satirical. They should promote solidarity and understanding. This is an increasingly popular method. “Provocations are part of the business of politics, and they belong to political campaigns,” explains political and campaign adviser Mark Balsiger in the “Tagesschau”.
How would it be if the Swiss were seeking asylum?
