Poovertising for World Toilet Day


This looks childish at first sight but it isn’t. 2.6 billion people worldwide don’t have acces to a toilet. If that was the case in the western world our streets looks like the scene above.
Those fake turds made of silicone are part of a guerilla campaign from the Swiss organisation Helvetas for World Toilet Day which was held at November 19. On that day Helvetas laid down the turds in shopping streets of Bern and Lausanne.
The bottom of the turd is covered with a adhesive which explain the campaign.

Another part of the campaign was the video contest. Helvetas encouraged the people of Switzerland to make a video with the tagline “No toilet, no …”. It results in 80 submitted video’s which can be found on the dedicated YouTube channel (see below).
