Prior to and during World Water Week, GMMB, a DC-based firm, ran a campaign for Tap DC, the Washington iteration of the Tap Project. The concept for the campaign was “Turn a Glass of Water into Something Beautiful,” and revolved around community residents and artists donating their time/talent/money to create artwork and help UNICEF provide clean water to children in the developing world.
Local artists and residents submitted artwork created around a tap water theme, and the art was featured in print and outdoor ads. A TV spot featured the community coming together to create a giant water glass out of created artwork. To kick off World Water Week, GMMB hosted “Something Beautiful,” at Tap DC art exhibit featuring the created art. The gallery’s opening gala featured a Tap mixologist creating specially created tap water infused cocktails, a water glass musician and a “creation station” where gallery goers could create their own “Tap art” and hang it in the gallery. A silent auction of the donated artwork was held to raise even more fund for UNICEF.
