These bus shelter ads are part of an ongoing series from Milwaukee too tell kids that a baby can wait.
The truth about being a parent means putting baby’s needs before yours, and these ads depict teen parents as a hand puppet, a jack-in-the-box and a pull toy, all being controlled by a disproportionately sized baby. The ads read: “Have a baby too young and it’ll control your life.” The ads encourage viewers to visit www.babycanwait.com for information and resources.
Nicole Angresano, vice president of community impact for United Way:
As any parent knows, once you are responsible for another life your child becomes your priority. Your needs are secondary. That responsibility is magnified if you are still a child yourself. That’s what we want teens to understand.Have a baby too young and it'll control your life Click To Tweet
The ad campaign comes from the United Way of Greater Milwaukee Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, that has helped reduce the teen birth rate in Milwaukee by a whopping 56% over the past 6 years.
