Youth against robot pollsters

Youth against robot pollsters

Please pardon me for one more Canadian election post, but these guys keep bringing up excellent points about democracy in general.

In the latest “Shit Harper Did” post, the issue is telephone polls. Since these are generally conducted by a random dialing of landline numbers, they miss reaching younger voters who are mobile-only.

The concern is that if youth — who turned out to vote in pathetically low numbers in the last election — believe that one party is heading towards a definitive win, they will not bother voting either through a sense of helplessness or simply not thinking their vote is needed.

The Canadian Federal Election is this Monday, May 2. If you’re a Canadian citizen, please get out and get heard no matter what anyone is telling you.
